A hive tool is an essential item for every beekeeper when prying apart hive bodies and frames that have been propolized.  Small pry bar used to open the hive and move frames. Scrape frames and hive bodies free of burr comb while you inspect. It's a good idea to have several hive tools on hand because they are easy to misplace.
